There are a lot of great web comics out there, but it’s not always easy for web comics and readers to connect.  In an effort to help everyone involved, I am holding the first annual web comic contest here at the Comic Strip Archive.

This site typically gets about 10,000 visitors a day, so this should help get some much-needed exposure to some very good web comics.  Right now, I just need nominations.  Post a  comment on this post with your nomination, including the name of the web comic, and the URL.  In a week or two, I’ll go through the nominations, and start the voting.

Be sure to Subscribe to our Twitter feed and Become Our Fan on Facebook, so we can notify you when the contest starts.  Obviously, any help spreading the word would be much appreciated.

According to Pajiba, Phoenix Entertainment and Intrigue Entertainment are set to produce a live action Dilbert movie.

Dilbert is one of the most popular (and one of the funniest, in my opinion) comic strips of all time, and the powers that be seem to think that director Ken Kwapis will be able to turn the comic strip into a workable live-action movie.

I think I speak for most people when I say I have my doubts. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any type of animation turned into something live action that wasn’t a complete mess. Animation gives the writer the freedom to do just about anything with their characters, and trying to put that in to the world where we live never seems to work.

What do you think? Can something like this work because of the strip’s success, or is the project doomed from the start?

As I mentioned before, Judge Parker artist Eduardo Barreto fell ill several weeks ago, and was temporarily replaced by a ghost artist.

It was announced recently that artist Mike Manley has become Barreto’s permanent replacement.  I’m not sold on Manly’s interpretation quite yet, but it always takes a while to get used to a new artist.  We’ll see how the strip progresses over the next few months.

Update: I was under the impression that Manley was the ghost artist and had been recently awarded the job full-time, but many astute readers pointed out that this was incorrect.  The interim artist is John Heebink.  Mike Manley’s strips will start on March 15th.

This reminds me of my highschool days, when our grades went A-E.  An “E” meant you failed.  It seems for most students, the latter grades skip over “E” entirely, and go straight to “F”.  I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that wasn’t from my hometown that ever received an “E” on a test for failing - until now!  Perhaps Archie Andrews and I attended the same high school.
